IndieWeb Carnival December 2023 — Holiday and December traditions

Happy Holidays, Indieweb! Or perhaps just happy December? For this months carnival I'd like to invite you to write a bit about your December traditions.

I feel like the "holiday season" can mean something very different to each person, some may feel positive or negative about it and maybe you do not celebrate anything at all this month. But even if you don't, maybe you have personal traditions you follow every December – it doesn't all have to be about filling shoes with candy or lighting candles – maybe your December tradition is something as simple as building a snowman or buying a lot of things at reduced prices after Christmas.

I'd love to hear about what the season means to you. Here are some pointers, if you don't know what to write about:

• Do you celebrate any holidays this month?
• If yes, are they imporant to you?
• How do you feel about the holiday season in general?
• How do you feel about holiday traditions? Are there some you like and some you don't like?
• What are some of your personal, very own traditions? Are there some things you and your loved ones do that others maybe don't? Are there some things you do alone?
• Do you celebrate Christmas and/or something else? If you celebrate a different religious or spiritual holiday, how do you feel about the importance that "secular" culture places on Christmas?
• Is there any seasonal food you particularly like?
• What do you look forward to in December?
• What is the weather like where you are? If it's snowy winter — how do you feel about it? Do you love the white landscape or does the darkness give you SAD?
• Do you have a holiday theme on your website? Why or why not?
